Production Issues

Each year brings new opportunities and challenges for North Dakota wheat producers.  Some years Mother Nature, producer production practices, and agronomics all work in our favor and produce a high-yielding, high quality crop.  Other years, producers face challenges from drought, disease, insects, and other unknowns.  This section highlights valuable resources that address current production opportunities and challenges.

DON and HVAC Grading

The North Dakota Wheat Commission and U.S. Durum Growers Association have heard concerns in recent years from producers regarding consistency of grading for hard vitreous kernel content (HVAC) and vomitoxin (DON).  The two groups are working with FGIS to ensure producer confidence in the official inspection system.  To learn more about these efforts, please read the letter below.
