Wheat Research Meeting Set in Minot

The Best of the Best in Wheat Research and Marketing meeting will be held Tuesday, February 5 in Minot at the Grand Hotel.  This meeting will focus on the latest research findings that impact wheat production and marketing.  The workshop provides timely updates from NDSU Extension experts on topics, such as disease and insect control, soil fertility, herbicide resistant weeds, and 2019 market outlook.  The meetings are sponsored by the North Dakota Wheat Commission and the North Dakota Grain Growers.

Hands-on demonstrations are planned at all of the locations. “These hands-on demonstrations have been a signature part of the program for many years,” says Joel Ransom, NDSU Extension agronomist and one of the organizers. “This section is popular because participants get a chance to interact with live plant material and directly with the presenters.” This year’s hands-on demonstrations include topics related to ergot, quality characteristics in wheat, weed ID, and soil acidity and management with beet lime.

Please note that in the recent Prairie Grains magazine, the date and location were listed incorrectly. The correct meeting date and location is Feb. 5 at the Grand Hotel.

A noon lunch will be provided at each venue. There is no participation fee but advanced registration is requested.
